About us
A Legacy Story of Empowerment
The National Adult Education Association of Liberia (NAEAL) was born from a shared belief that education is a fundamental right for everyone. In 1977, a passionate group of religious organizations, educators, and the Ministry of Education came together to address a critical challenge: the lack of educational opportunities for adults and out-of-school youth.
For decades, we have been at the forefront of tackling this challenge, growing from a small initiative into a nationally recognized NGO with experience in working across the 15 counties of Liberia. We are deeply rooted in the communities we serve, working hand-in-hand with local leaders and beneficiaries to design programs that are relevant, impactful, and foster true ownership. Our approach is unique because both:
rights-based and gender-sensitive, ensuring that education empowers individuals to claim their rights and that women and girls, who make up 90% of our beneficiaries, have an equal opportunity to succeed.
